Position Title: Architectural Drafter

 

Brief Description of Job Duties:  Develop detailed drawings of architectural designs and plans for buildings and structures according to specifications provided by architects and engineers. Analyze building codes, by-laws, space and site requirements, and other technical documents and reports to incorporate them into architectural designs. Coordinate structural, electrical, and mechanical designs/specifications into one plan. Draw rough and detailed scale plans for foundations, buildings, and structures, based on preliminary concepts, sketches, engineering calculations, specification sheets, and other data. Obtain and assemble data to complete architectural designs including visiting job sites to compile measurements as necessary, and interviews with clients to refine details. Use 2D AutoCAD to produce working drawings and use 3D Rhinoceros design software to develop volumetric designs. Use 3D rendering and post-processing software to produce visual representations of the architectural concept. Determine procedures and instructions to be followed, according to design specifications and quantity of required materials. Produce interior and exterior finished schedules. Prepare cost estimates, contracts, bidding documents, and technical reports for specific projects under an architect's supervision. Represent architect on construction site, ensuring builder compliance with design specifications and advising on design corrections, under architect's supervision.
